Helena Guzman was born in São Paulo, Brasil - South America.
She was raised in Indianapolis, Indiana - USA and now resides in Ottawa, Ontario - Canada.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at DePauw University and the
GLCA New York Arts Program
(Great Lakes College Association) majoring in Studio Fine Arts, History, and Education. Her creative
background is in charcoal drawing, multimedia art, sculpture & installation, as well as graphic arts & photography.
Helena opened her first company, TomatoWorks Art Studio, in 1997.
TomatoWorks provided creative marketing, arts and educational services to schools, small businesses and
community organizations, such as museums and libraries, throughout Indiana and Illinois.
TomatoWorks Art Studio offered business services, such as:
Marketing Materials, Arts Consultation, Grant & Technical Writing,
as well as Event Planning. Specialized
fine art workshops were also offered for adults, children of
all ages & families that encouraged creativeness in thinking and hands-on experiences with the arts.
In 2001, Helena closed her business after receiving the opportunity to teach full-time at the newly
created college-prep school, University High School. As Head
of the Art Department and Visual Arts teacher, she developed a 4-year arts curriculum and taught art for grades 9-12.
Then in 2006, Helena moved to Canada as a permanent resident. She has since reopened and renamed her original business to
HGF Design Studio and now offers marketing and business services for a variety
of clients in Ottawa, as well as the USA.
